Khalil Gibran once said that mankind “lives to discover beauty. All else is a form of waiting.” Yet we believe beauty can only come in the form of the rare, the exotic or that, which lies just out of reach. Given this, it comes as no surprise that humanity knows less about our oceans than we do the reaches of our solar system. We neglect the beauty that surrounds us.
Here on our very planet are alien worlds, waiting to be discovered. Not only is there the sea, but the miniature universe of the insect world rustling just under our footfall. The well tread paths we follow become dull, and uninspiring. We grow deaf to tales we have heard once before, and sights that have grown familiar.
As an artist, I feel it is my duty to seek out beauty, no matter how obscure a surrounding it may lie in. My art reflects the natural world and all the enchantment to be found within. My name is Marco A. Shatter, let me reawaken you to the beauty all around you.
