The Kyrie Gallery

The Kyrie Gallery

My name is Cora Smith and I established the Kyrie Gallery in 2004 to showcase my work and create a place for art in my rural area. The Kyrie Gallery motto is "Art for Life" and my goal through the gallery has been to produce work that touches lives and makes connections. I began doing commissioned portrait work in 1989 and it continues to be a passion for me. However, around the portrait work, I began to pursue other forms of expression. I am a Christian artist who is very aware that art and faith have been intertwined since the beginning of time. Faith based art is and has always been a powerful way to communicate universally. As a result, my favorite pieces have become the surrealistic/abstract works that are most often my version of Christian Contemporary art. These pieces are uniquely inspired and have been well received. An additional love to which I was introduced about 10 years ago is sculpture. The work is produced using roma plastalina clay and then cast into bronze through the "lost wax" method of casting. This is a relatively new medium for me and I am excited about the pieces that are yet cast as well as those produced. My most recent is a portrait sculpture of my grandson and my hope is to offer commissioned portrait sculpture in the future. But for now, technology and things like the "print on demand" opportunity have provided a great way to share beyond boundaries. The Kyrie Gallery has been located in Mahaffey, Pennsylvania but is transitioning to a mainly online presence. More of my work can be viewed by accessing the gallery website -
