Art is a meditative experience for me. It is what I do best. It is my true path. I prefer the abstract. It is almost accidental art. It is my way of working out a problem. The picture in the end is like a photograph of a moment within me. In Christianity there are gifts that each individual is blessed with. One of them is the gift of Craftsmanship. This is the gift that God has chosen to bless me with. I like the process of attaching what seems just the right scripture verse to emphasize its meaning in my own eyes.
I am a mixed media artist. I have worked with a few different mediums and I like to mix those mediums. I am particularly fond of adding texture to my work in my original images, enough to hopefully show up even in prints. I do this in using materials like tissue papers, florals, texture paste and gesso. My art is a culmination of many years working with crafts and I am always open to learning and introducing new ideas into my art. While having no formal art training, my experience comes out of a simple life of crafting.
Others may see what I see in my art or they may see something different. I think they are drawn to the textural aspect of much of my work. One individual felt that my work was so new she couldn't find a word to describe it. At that point I started calling it mixed media art.
My motto is "Do what you love, love what you do!"
