Sel Rodda is an Australian based artist. Painter, draftsman, animator and digital artist, Sel has exhibited in highly prestigious Australian galleries and his work is found in major private collections in Melbourne and Sydney. His work is poetic and allusive, ambiguous yet with psychological, poetic and mythological resonance. His abstract animation has featured on Qantas International In-flight Entertainment and SONY distributed a DVD in the early 2000s.
The artist as quoted in Allens Art Journal: REALMS BEYOND REALITY OTHER THAN ORDINARY: SURREALISM, WHIMSY, AND ABSURDITY IN CONTEMPORARY AUSTRALIAN PAINTING, 2015: Ambiguity in art is a kind of enrichment transcending one-dimensionality, a generosity, an invitation enabling viewers to bring their own perspectives into play. I make art in a spirit of serious play and a desire to transmit to an audience something of authentic emotional and expressive import without conceptual foreclosure.
Sel will exhibit his drawings in New York in 2016.
