2016 Exhibition Art

Molly Brocklehurst graduated from Leeds College of Art in 2016 with a first in Fine Art BA (Hons). She has since been nominated for the Aon Community Art Award and will have her work on display in Aon's head office in the city of London until May 2017. She is currently preparing to study for a Masters in London.

Molly’s practice emerges from the fascination of the found photograph. She paints from old photographs that she finds in flea markets and antique shops around England. The photographs are ambiguous and act as a starting point, allowing her a way into somebody’s life. Being distorted by her own interpretation, the paintings contain elements of fiction whilst at the same time depict a lost moment, once recorded by the click of the camera. They blur the boundary between reality and fiction.
