Maeva to you :)
Mark was born in Helsinki and a few months later moved to Tunisia and then to France and has spent his life growing up between London, Nice, Helsinki and Paris
Mark has always been an artist, ever since he was a little boy he would draw for hours on end and not make a sound, building a world of his own with imaginary creatures and creating exciting stories. At the age of 9 Mark's art got him expelled from school for having drawn a naked lady. A few years later, during recess, Mark noticed while chatting with his classmates that he had not done his homework for next class. A complex illustration of a seascape was required and with only 10 minutes left, Mark pulled out his school book and produced the drawing in lightening speed just in time before the bell rang, back in the geography class, after roll call, the teacher started checking homework and the pupil sitting next to Mark got his ear pulled while the teacher said "you will have to do this again for next time, look at Mark's sketch you can tell he spent a lot of time on it!" Hearing such a praise in a school were getting slapped and punished was a daily routine this amazing compliment was similar to a lotus flower growing out of a heap of cow dung and of course it pushed our favorite artist to draw more. When he became a teenager, he started to rebel against the strict upbringing at school and started drawing comic strips featuring his schoolmates involved in wild stories resisting the system, messing about with the good citizens and especially picturing his teachers taking drugs and being kidnapped by outer space aliens was part of the everyday fun at school during the lunch break. Then came the time for the ultimate decision after the final school exams and Mark, pressured by his dad had to think about a professional career, but he had been so busy drawing that he had never really thought of what to do with his life...Under pressure, Mark decided to take a drastic turn and throw himself into studying business as his dad didn't approve of letting him study art as it was only for dope smokers and long haired hippies with no future destined to be broke all their lives. Moreover, his dad never showed any encouragements towards his son's art, quite the contrary he never hesitated a second to openly affirm in his face that his art was rubbish, which young Mark ended up accepting and went on to study finance and economics in the USA and graduated with a Master of Science in Business and became a successful money maker in various big 5 companies in London and totally gave up on his hopes and dreams of becoming an artist...until a few years ago after a horrible experience at a huge corporate law firm in Paris, Mark just couldn't take the long hours and staying at the office until 3am on the phone with the New York office, that's when he decided he had enough of swimming with the sharks and gave up the rat race, the fancy dinners and the Hermes ties, before he'd die of exhaustion ...It is about then when Mark heard a voice deep within....Remember who you are and what god put you here for...stop fooling yourself...and just when he thought it was all over for him, He picked up a pencil and a sheet of paper and started drawing...He was feeling in contact with himself again, connected, doing what he likes, being himself...It is then when he decided to take off from where he had left and got all the drawing books back from out of the cellar, there was a lot of catching up to do and there still is but it felt right and today Mark is happily doing what he loves best, scribbling and creating to the joy of his entourage...Today Mark is flat broke financially, living "la vie de boheme" and is in the middle of being evicted by his landlord but at least he is alive as he often says... Mark is very interested in XIXth century art post impressionism and surrealism which truly inspires his work that he proudly presents to you today.
Hope you like Mark's art as much as we do.
