My work is mostly inspired by nature, but sometimes purely imaginary. I make art because it is an endless learning process. I enjoy learning and constantly evolving. I have evolved from representational to the more abstract. I have tried to learn to use color, form, line and contrast to achieve the desired effects. The primary use of palette knives has served to help me become more free and actually paint with the paint, gradually developing what I hope is a unique style
I came to art relatively late in life. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics/Economics from Drake University, a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and working as a computer programmer for over 20 years, I decided it was time to attempt to balance my heavily left-sided brain and develop whatever creative abilities that I may have. I began by doing landscape oil painting in 1993 and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Studio Arts, Painting, from Bellevue University in 1997.
