NORUWA ARTS

As a self-taught impressionist, the inspiration for my paintings comes not only from famous/popular subjects, places or objects, but also from the mundane. Therein lies my greatest challenge, making the ordinary extraordinary. I like to believe that my paintings are a kaleidoscope of colors gallivanting outrageously with a view to pleasing the observer.

Growing up in Benin City, Nigeria, in the Igun Street Bronze sculpting district, much of my very early childhood was filled with memories of backyard casting foundries and store fronts showrooms adorned with glittering bronze statues/statuettes. This profound, artistically charged atmosphere was further accentuated by the ever-present odor of darkroom chemicals, emanating from my dad's photography studio, permeating the hallway of my ancestral home.

It is against this background that my passion and love for the arts, in general, was born. I confess, painting for me is an addiction. The deep-seated cravings for the latest piece are constantly broiling in me, impatiently oozing through my every pore, waiting to burst open with the expected euphoric exhalation!
