Peace of Art

About Donna Johnson

I was born in Maywood, Illinois. I remember I was interested in drawing cartoons for fun at a very young age and still do today. I started painting murals on walls in my home of Disney characters around 20 years old, then selling my cartoons to stores on commission. During that time of my life I had gotten married and later had 3 wonderful kids. I became serious about art after my husband's job move us to Boston in the 80's and I enrolled into Boston Museum of fine art college, for refresher courses.

I learned to use pastels and found working with my hands on paper a favorite medium. I later tried acrylics, watercolors, pencil, inks, and oils. After Boston our family moved and settled in Texas. After living there for 3 months my husband had a major heart attacked and passed away. Not until the loss of my husband did I realize how much my art gift would become a source of comfort, but also a major career move. Today all of my art is done on a computer using an art tablet and various art programs. I have found my medium with this type of art. Not only can I do pastels, but I am able do all the different type of art mediums that I had fun doing so long ago. I believe we are all given a gift, a peace of the spirit; This is the foundation from which I formed my Peace of Art. All artwork is copyright.
