Domingo Jose Ríos Rivera is a native of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. His interest in art began shortly after being diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder at the age of 13, which is a clear definitive aspect of his life that affects his overall paintings and way of expressing his views. Domingo was always interested in photography but found his true passion in painting. He sold his first painting by the age of 15 while still in middle school, and managed to start displaying most of his paintings in local galleries and restaurants while in high school. Ríos is now studying for his bachelor’s degree in Biology and is also studying towards a minor in plastic arts. In the present he currently strives every day to better himself in any way he can and believes that in order to fully exploit our inner selves we must enrich our minds with all the knowledge we can.
Art has given me great pleasure throughout my life. It has been the tool with which I am able to carve my body, my soul, and my heart. In my works you will see my representation of daily things that we tend to overpass unintentionally and also the true hidden faces of our diverse society. I am greatly intrigued by the human form and by our outstanding mother nature, and always strive to represent their virtues through the most colorful and passionate way I can. I hope to keep discovering new things and new passions in my years around art, as I have seen that art is the most inexhaustible source of knowledge and appreciation of life itself.
