Hours after running a half-marathon Debbie picked up a canvas she had been working on and created her first resin painting. Using syringes she drew the map that was in her mind “we went up there, round there, up again, round another block, up, down, across and so on”. She then went on to experiment more with liquid acrylics and resins on tiles, timber and canvas - a whole new world was discovered.

Utilising the natural flow of liquid mediums Debbie creates a fascinating sense of movement and depth in her art. This is a natural extension of her work as a glass artist. She creates eye-catching visual masterpieces, similar to her glass jewellery but on a much larger scale. The unpredictability of converging colours, movement, flow and the polished glass-like finish is what Debbie enjoys and embraces. Nothing is planned – “go with the flow” is what Debbie’s favourite art teacher taught her. That she does. She does it well.

Debbie lives in Auckland, New Zealand. She loves to travel, is a real down-to-earth born-and-bred 'Kiwi' and runs a company that supplies glass fusing jewellery making equipment and materials, selling locally and all around the world. Her company, Glaze (www.glaze.co.nz), specialises in microwave kiln technology.
