Dana Abrams

Daniela Abrams is a contemporary artist born in Galati, Romania. She immigrated to the United States at the age of 18 with a single backpack and a mere $40.00 to her name. Not one to sit on her laurels, Daniela immediately began her studies at Iowa's Grinnell College majoring in French, where she received her bachelor degree and graduated with honors. Shortly thereafter, Daniela attended and graduated from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, again graduating with honors and earning her M.D. Dr. Abrams went on to become one of less than 200 female physicians, in the U.S., to enter the elite the field of Neurosurgery. Daniela, who has taken a special interest in the removal of complex brain tumors, has operated upon thousands of patients, of all ages, and has touched the lives of many more family members. Touched by the devastating effects of cancer within her own family, she is a strong advocate for her patients and, when appropriate, she routinely lobbies for those under her care to be enrolled in experimental clinical drug trials, many of which may hold promising steps toward the eradication of cancer. As well as becoming a skilled and sought after surgeon, Mrs. Abrams has established herself as a talented and noteworthy abstract and realist painter. She draws her inspiration from her years of work as a healer and as a young child and teen living under a repressive communist regime. As child, Daniela often dreamt of the warm continent of Africa, which she learned of in school, and she imagined the peaceful tranquility of rural Americana, which she viewed pictures of, via smuggled National Geographic Magazine articles. She is also influenced by those she heals, which include members of the United States Military.

Daniela's artwork has been published and publicly displayed throughout California, Maui, and the United States.

Daniela Abrams currently resides in Southern California and spends much of her downtime in Maui with her husband and 2 teen children, where she enjoys painting, poetry, hiking, cooking, and immersing herself in the rich art culture of the West Coast and the Pacific Islands.
