Kno is the pseudonym of a Cuban architect and painter Jorge Alberto Pérez Fernández, born in 1968. Member of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC). Graduate of Architecture at the University of Santiago de Cuba, in 1989. Designed and built some of the main buildings that were executed in the city of Guantanamo in the late twentieth century and beginning of XXI. His paintings accompanied interior designing Architecture, and which amounted plastic works of powerful art movement Guantanamo Cuban and East. From 2006 he lived clandestinely in Cuba under a false identity. After many setbacks and hide in different Cuban cities, in 2008, gets emigrating illegally by sea to the US, where he was arrested and sent to prison in the Guantanamo Naval Base. In prison he is known by the pseudonym Kno by his fellow prisoners. There Kno paints, makes handicrafts and woodcuts and handcrafted furniture designs that are acquired by private collectors and public collections in the US Navy. Year and a half later and by agreement between the governments of Spain and the US, Kno is moved to Spain where he currently resides. His paintings, done in mixed media where the acrylic and inks, expressed longing for a distant land, the exodus concern and sadness over the denial of return predominates. In 2013 he was a finalist of the Biennial Miguel Viladrich, Casimiro Sainz contest and contest Banalmádena watercolors. Private collectors in the United States, Spain, Russia and Japan have his paintings.
