David Monte Cristo


David Monte Cristo is an abstract artist and musician (vocalist, pianist) living in Rego Park, NY. He was born in Tbilisi, Georgia on February 17, 1957 and came to the United States in 1975 after 2 years in Israel and Italy. His father Mordechai Janashvili (1929 - 1989) is a well-known painter in the FSU and in Israel. In music David was a child prodigy and sang pop/rock songs by Tom Jones, Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, and others. His father was a major influence on him and wanted him to become a painter, but he chose to devote himself to music. It is only in the last 6 years that he has painted on a regular basis. He has more than 200 pieces of fine and abstract art which were created using a variety of media.

In music he is creating/recording new sounds and songs, learning new covers, and performing. His repertoire includes originals, rock/pop hits from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s, new wave, synthpop, new age, classical, and international (Spanish, French, Italian, Russian, Georgian, Israeli). Together with James Michaels, he formed Monte Cristo Records and Publishing (BMI) in 2009.
